Nicole Streeter

Nicole Streeter is a native Houstonian with an exceptional background and strong commitment to community service in her hometown.  Ms. Streeter has been a young leader in the community for many years and has had many unique opportunities to build and support the infrastructure of our community.  She has proven to be an outstanding leader and is an experienced change agent for leadership opportunities. She has made several significant contributions to the community in her field of philanthropy and governance and is a tireless community servant ready to test and challenge her current leadership framework in her commitment to personal growth.

 

Ms. Streeter is the Vice President, Chief Governance Officer for the Harris Health System.  As Vice President, Ms. Streeter has guided the Harris County Board of Trustees in Healthcare Reform strategic planning initiatives, emphasizing utilization of our core resources including: the Harris County Hospital District Foundation to increase philanthropic giving in programmatic and service areas at risk of being discontinued; and, Community Health Choice, Inc. to increase the organization’s network capability to refer excess capacity to neighboring healthcare facilities. She serves as Chief Liaison to the Chair of the Board of Trustees, the Chief Executive Officer and as representative to the Harris County Commissioners Court.  She is responsible for forging partnerships and enhancing consensus building among the board members, as well as, facilitating relationship management among the board members and executive leadership.  Prior to her position as Vice President, Ms. Streeter served as Executive Director of the Houston Texans Foundation and Director of Community Development for the Houston Texans Corporation, where she spearheaded a myriad of strategic community partnerships, including the Houston Texans and the YMCA partnership.  This partnership resulted in the first YMCA to be named after a National Football League Team, which is now the Houston Texans YMCA.  Ms. Streeter was also the Houston Texans strategic lead in a multilateral partnership for the Hurricane Ike Relief Fundraising $5.2M for hurricane victims within two weeks of the disaster with HEB, Reliant Energy and the United Way.

 

Ms. Streeter’s philanthropic career includes a position held as Interim Executive Director and Director of Major Gifts for the University of Texas Medical School in Houston, where she was the principal fundraiser for the medical school and for the $84M Research Replacement Facility Campaign.  Also, as External Affairs and Fund Development Project Director for the World Health Organization Collaborating Center for Supportive Cancer Care, where she improved the sustainability of global multi-disciplinary pain management protocols by implementing strategic fund development initiatives that raised over $6M from federal, corporate and philanthropic funders.  She has also raised funds for the National Medical Association in Washington, DC, and Martin University and the YMCA Urban Mission in Indianapolis, Indiana.

 

In 2001, Ms. Streeter was awarded the William Randolph Hearst Philanthropy Fellowship from Indiana University Center on Philanthropy, and in 2002 she was the first African-American to be awarded the Bentz Whaley Flessner Fundraising Fellowship from the Association for Fundraising Professionals.  She also received the Texas Leader of the Future Award from Senator Rodney Ellis while serving as a member of the Texas Legislative Program.  Ms. Streeter holds a Bachelor of Arts in psychology with a minor in women’s leadership from Sweet Briar College in Virginia, a Master of Arts in philanthropic studies with a special concentration in Healthcare Philanthropy, a Master of Public Health with a concentration in policy, management and community health practice from the University of Texas School of Public Health, and she has earned a certificate of nonprofit executive management from Indiana University School of Environmental and Public Affairs.  She serves as a member of Society of Corporate Governance and as Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors and Chair of Governance for Executive Service Corps of Houston and as a board member of the Local Initiatives Support Corporation of Greater Houston.  She is a member of the Greater Houston Women’s Chamber of Commerce –Women’s Health Network Committee, Project Blueprint Class XXXII, American Leadership Forum Class XXXIX, Community Investment and Organizational Review teams of the United Way of Greater Houston.
